In Germany, lawyers may charge under the statutory lawyer-fee rules in the Rechtsanwaltsvergütungsgesetz (RVG), or agree a fee with the client where permitted.
How the fee is determined
The amount depends on the type and scope of the matter, its procedural stage, and whether court or other additional work is required. More than one family member or an unusually extensive matter may also affect the total.
Before work starts
The lawyer confirms the proposed scope and fee before accepting the matter. Government charges, court fees, translations, certifications and other third-party costs may be separate.
